Via Dei Tribunale

imageI recently enjoyed a trip into the heart of old Naples. This image really depicts old Naples as a vibrant, chaotic, anarchic city. People, cars, vespas throng the narrow ‘Via dei Tribunali’, one of the oldest streets in Naples running east from Castle Capua to west. At three quarters of a mile long it is the main decumanus (Decumanus Maggiore)     and dates back to the ancient Greek and Roman city of ‘Neapolis’. It also claims in excess of twenty chapels along its course … though I’m not sure they are all open for visiting, sadly. Like many places  in Naples, one has to phone before a visit.
